What are the required components for a school lunch?
Rally Cafe has lots of great choices, and students can get their selections from any station for a school lunch. The 5 components are grain, meat/meat alternate, milk, fruit and vegetable. Students must take at least three of the five components, and one component always has to be a fruit or vegetable. Here are a few examples:
- Piece of pizza and an apple (grain, meat/meat alternate, fruit)
- Cheeseburger and carrots (grain, meat/meat alternate, veggie)
- Milk, Apple, carrots (milk, fruit, veggie)
- Popcorn chicken, apple, carrots, milk (meat/meat alternate, grain, fruit, veggie, milk)
Note: ALL entrees contain 2 components already, typically the grain and meat. Students just need to add a fruit or vegetable.
